In 2003 I spent two months in Sabah, Borneo, researching the live reef fish trade. In a nutshell, tropical fish such as the Napoleon wrasse are stunned with either cyanide or dynamite -processes which destroy much of the invertebrate reef life- and then transported, alive, for sale principally in Hong Kong.

I have also been lucky enough to carry out research in Peru for three months in 2002. But recently (and possibly most enjoyably) I went to Central America with my friend Aidan for a month of wandering around just for the fun of it.
